Printing your resume on paper and distributing it to potential employers is the traditional way to go about looking for jobs. But in today’s tech age, people prefer to have everything computers and that too in a visually appealing way. This is precisely why there are numerous online services that help you share your resumes and experiences online.
The most prominent online resume website is undoubtedly LinkedIn, the social network for professionals. But the resumes on LinkedIn are bland and unattractive. For a convenient way to create visually appealing resumes that can be shared with friends, you should check out a web service called Zerply.
Zerply is a wonderful free web service that helps you create and share your resume online. In addition to an intuitive and user-friendly interface, the site features an excellent yet simple option of visual themes to choose from. These themes with clear organization and attractive color schemes make your resume go a lot easier on the viewer’s eyes. Along with making your online resume complete by adding your work information, Zerply also makes your resume ‘trackable’ – it lets you view how many people have been viewing your resumes.
The first step in using Zerply is to create a new account on the site. You can do this either by providing your email address and selecting a password or by connecting through your Facebook or Twitter account.
Once you are signed in, you are shown a Welcome message and a helpful wizard that gets you started on setting up your online resume.
The first thing this wizard gets you to do is add your location, a description, a short bio, and add a few tags to make finding you on the site for others easier.
Next you can add your work information. This is done by adding new experiences in the subsequent page on the wizard. For each place you work, you can add a job description and location plus URL of the workplace.
Your added jobs appear under Experiences. Your work experiences can also be imported from your Facebook and LinkedIn accounts.
One of the final steps is to add a profile picture. Although this step is not necessary, it is highly recommended that you add picture. Otherwise you will have an empty slot in your online resume that will result in an unappealing final result. The image you upload can be of the JPG, GIF, or PNG format and can be 800 KB at its largest.
On the same profile picture selection step, you can click on the “Pick a Service” button to add links to your website or add your account information of various networks. This information will help resume viewers to better connect with you. You will find that a large number of networks are supported.
Finally, you select a theme for your online resume.
That is all! Your resume will now be available online and viewable to others, given you have set it to public viewing.
You can visit your dashboard anytime to view profile visits and any skill endorsements that Zerply friends have given you.
Zerply offers an easy-to-use interface that lets you create a wonderful online profile about yourself and your work. If you want a landing page for yourself that helps others learn about you and your work, then Zerply will help you out excellently.
