Soundcore Spirit X Sports Earphones Review

I love wireless earphones simply because I love to listen to music on the go and don’t like to be tethered down with wire. Small portable wireless earphones fit the bill as they are small, and I can easily bring them around in my bag. I recently had the chance to review the Soundcore Spirit X Sports Earphones by Anker, and they didn’t disappoint, with regards to both build and quality. In fact, they are the best wireless earphones that I have tried and owned.

Verdict: An excellent wireless earphones that doesn't break the bank.

The Good

  • Long battery life
  • Cheap and reasonable price
  • Useful and thoughtful accessories for a good wearing experience
  • Waterproof

The Bad

  • Bass is still lacking like other similar earphones

Inside the box

Like the packaging for most wireless earphones, the box comes with a no-frill design. You open up the box, and there is only a case for the earphones (with the earphones contained within). The case comes with an attached carabiner which you can easily hook onto your belt or bag. (I have a few wireless earphones and none of them have a carabiner attached. I really love this feature.)

They also come with four sets of earbuds of different sizes, two sets of ear tips, a shirt clip and two cable clips.

Using the earphones is easy. There is a control switch toward the right side of the cord. There are three buttons on the switch – Plus, Play, Minus. A long press on the Play button will turn the earphones on/off. Pressing and holding the Play button while they are on will activate the pairing mode (with a blinking blue/red light). The Plus and Minus buttons will control the volume as well as the previous/next track.

To get started, simply press and hold the Play button until the light starts blinking blue and red. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and start to pair it with the “Soundcore SpiritX” earphones.

Once paired, you can put on the earphones and enjoy your music.

Each earbud comes with a ear hook that you can hook onto your ear. They fit snugly on your ears to where you don’t have to fear that they will drop off. The silicone material is soft and flexible and doesn’t hurt your ears when wearing them for a long time.

At the middle of the cord is a cord clipper where you can use it to adjust the length of the cord. This is pretty useful, as you can adjust it to suit your head size and prevent the cord from swinging around when you are exercising. You can also attach the shirt clip to the cable clip and clip the cable to your shirt.

All in all, these small but useful accessories make it really comfortable to wear them on your ears.

When it comes to music quality, I think these earbuds are pretty good. They come with a 10mm driver, and you can hear the mid and high tones clearly. You can also hear the bass, though it is not as good as most high-end headphones, which is quite expected. Comparing them with similar wireless earphones, I would think they produce a better quality (louder and clearer voice) than others.

On a crowded train ride, due to the tight fit (the earbuds are long and go right into your ear canal), you can easily hear your music, though high-pitched noise will still seep through once in a while. While they doesn’t come with active noise cancellation, they do a good job in blocking out noises.

Battery Life

The battery life is another area where they shine. They come out of the box with a 90% charged battery, and I managed to use them for over twenty hours (combined usage) before the battery went flat. They were advertised to have twelve hours playtime, but I am sure they last way longer than that.

This is the main selling point of the Spirit X earphones. They come with a IPX7 rating and can stand sweat (or water) in most conditions. While I did wear them for my jogging session, I don’t sweat that much to put the “sweatproof” claim to test.
