[Vista Tips]: Simple Way To Boost Your SATA Drive Performance

If you are using SATA drive and Window Vista, there is this feature that you can use to boost the speed and performance of your hard disk. This is what you do:

  1. Go to Device Manager and find the Disk Drive
  2. Right click, select properties
  3. Click the policies tab. Select “optimize for performance
  4. Check both “Enable write caching on the disk” and “Enable advanced performance
  5. Click OK and exit

Microsoft didn’t enable this feature by default because there is a risk of losing data if you lose power or have a catastrophic crash. To prevent this from happening, you might want to use a universal power supply and run regular backups.
