Recently we published an article about the social network Tsu that pays users to post on the platform. On the outset it seems like a win-win situation, but there has to be a downside, otherwise all social networks would be copying this business model. Should Tsu, or other social networks for that matter, pay you to use their service?
There doesn’t seem to be much of a downside to being paid for using a social network. The only negative is really a hidden positive. Not every post does well, so you won’t make a lot of money on everything you post. However, this would encourage you to post differently, and maybe that would improve the likes of Facebook, Twitter, and the rest. It would cut down on the amount of extraneous posts that mean nothing, such as someone posting what they had for dinner. The main positive is that if it’s something you’re doing anyway, why not make some money off of it? If you’re sharing pictures of your one-year-old’s birthday, wouldn’t it be nice to be paid every time a relative or friend views it?
Should this business model be followed for all social networks or just a select few? Does it change the way you think of posting to know you’ll get paid if a post connects with your followers?
