How to Share Your Android Wi-Fi Password Using QR Code

Android Wifi Qr Code

Have you ever encountered a situation where your friends come over to your place and ask for your Wi-Fi password to connect to your Internet? There are times when sharing your Wi-Fi password is not possible, either because it is too long and you can’t remember it, or you are afraid they will spread your password around and make your Wi-Fi network vulnerable to hackers. Fortunately, Android offers a way to use a scannable QR code image to share your Wi-Fi.

Generating the QR Code

For this to work, your Android phone has to be connected to the Wi-Fi network. Turn on your Android phone and go to the Settings menu.

Note: the following steps will differ from phone to phone, but the QR code sharing option will be there unless you are using a really old Android phone.

Scroll down the list of options relating to the functioning of your phone until you see the Network & Internet option. Click on this option to open a new page of functions.

Android Wifi Settings

Click on Wi-Fi. You will see the name of the Wi-Fi network that you are currently using on the new page.

Next to the name of your Wi-Fi network is a gear icon. Press it to go to its Settings page.
