Google Calendar is a popular tool for productivity but is useful for other areas of life too. You can make your calendar more entertaining by adding one of the many different calendars that will help you keep track of the fun things in life, such as movies, television, and sports. You can access these calendars either through the Google Calendar app or on websites that offer their own calendars.

Calendars from Google

The easiest way to add a new calendar to your Google Calendar is to add it directly from the app. There is a small, yet useful collection of calendars available.

To add a calendar, click on the plus sign next to “Other Calendars,” then click on “Browse calendars of interest.” You will see a list of calendars to choose from that includes different holiday calendars, a wide variety of sports teams schedules, and an option for the phases of the moon.

Choose the ones you want by checking the box. When you do, Google adds the calendar, and you will see a notification confirming it.

Google Calendar used to have its own weather calendar as part of the service, but it is no longer active. It is still easy to add the weather to your calendar by clicking the “+” button next to “Other calendars” and select “From URL.”

The website TV Calendar gives you the ability to add two weeks’ worth of television shows to your Google Calendar. It may not be a set-it-and-forget-it solution, but if there are a lot of new shows coming on that you want to remember, and you may find it helpful.

Add Google Calendars Television

To create a calendar on TV Calendar, you need to create an account. Once you’ve done that, you definitely want to make sure that the time zone is set correctly, since the default is UTC. If you live in the United States, your shows will be on the incorrect day of the week. Browse the schedule, choose the shows you want to track and add them to your favorites.

Once you’ve selected the shows, hover over the Account button and click the .iCal entry. This will give you the file of your chosen shows. You can add this file to Google Calendar by clicking the Plus next to other calendars option. Choose “Import” and browse to find the file you downloaded. It will add these events directly to the calendar you have open. Because of this, you may want to make a separate calendar for television shows if you will use this often.
