Install Cyanogen Apps Package for Non-Cyanogen OS Users

Cyanogen Apps Package For The Rest Of Us

Not many are able to distinguish between two different Cyanogen products: CyanogenMod and Cyanogen OS. On one hand CyanogenMod is an open-source platform by the makers that can be installed on any device by rooting. On the other hand the Cyanogen OS is more commercial in nature, and it comes pre-installed on devices. Some of the popular smartphones that run Cyanogen OS are the OnePlus One, YU-branded phones, and the ZUK Z1.

Until now only Cyanogen OS users had access to a variety of stock applications, but now even CyanogenMod users will be able to enjoy all those apps. The company recently announced the Cyanogen Apps Package (C-Apps) which brings six essential stock apps to CyanogenMod-powered devices.

The Cyanogen Apps Package (C-Apps) package is now available for download. However, it will not come preinstalled on the forthcoming CyanogenMod releases. Users will still be required to download the C-Apps Package manually. Another heads up: only those devices that are running the latest version of CyanogenMod (CM 12.1) will be able to run these apps.

Here are the six apps that will become available on your CyanogenMod-powered device once you install the C-Apps package.

1. AudioFX

CyanogenMod AudioFX C-App

AudioFX is an app that delivers 24-bit High-Res Lossless Audio with bass boost, surround, reverb, and 13 preset configurations. It escalates the quality of the audio and makes sure that users get the best sound output. The app was already available on CyanogenMod, but this one is a better version.

2. Theme Chooser & Themes Store

CyanogenMod Theme Selector C-App

Well, this takes personalization to another level. The app allows users to mix components of any given theme and make a theme per their whims and fancies. With this app users can customize the screen layout in their desired manner.

The Cyanogen Theme Store will enable users to browse and download as many themes as they want. The store is equipped with more than 200 themes, and fresh themes are added regularly.

3. Dialler with Truecaller

CyanogenMod Trucaller C-App

This app will save you from installing the TrueCaller application separately, as it integrates it within the dialler. It means that now whenever you’re dialling a new number, TrueCaller will display the contact name per its database. It will also enable the user to block spam messages and calls.

4. Email Powered by Boxer

CyanogenMod Boxer C-App

This single app will sync different e-mail accounts of the user. It will save a lot of time by omitting the need to log in and out of various e-mail accounts. Users just need to sync their accounts once via Boxer, and then all their accounts will be together in one place. Whenever users need to use a specific account, then they will just have to choose it from the list without the need to enter log-in details.

5. Gallery

CyanogenMod Gallery C-App

As suggested by the name itself, this app is all about keeping the photos in sync. It brings together all your photos from different services and sorts them per the date and size. Not only that, the app also checks for duplicity and removes the images that appear twice in the gallery.

6. Cyanogen Account

CyanogenMod Account C-App

Cyanogen Account is very important, as it brings in the “Find My Phone” feature. It will enable users to remotely track their lost device. Also, they will be able to remotely wipe data from the missing device.

These apps are offered by CyanogenMod in a flashable zip file format. Here is how you can download and install the C-Apps Package.

1. Download the C-Apps zip package from here, and transfer it to your phone.

2. After transferring the package, switch off the phone and go into the recovery mode (a Google search will tell you how to enter recovery mode on your particular device).

3. Wipe cache and choose “Install zip” or “Apply update” from the options.

4. Search for the location of the C-Apps package and select it.

5. After selecting it, the Cyanogen OS apps package will start installing on your device. Then restart your device from the main recovery menu.

Getting these apps on your CyanogenMod-powered device might not be as simple as downloading them from Google Play, but following the above instructions should get those apps running your phone or tablet in short order.
