5 of the Best Online PDF Editors to Edit Your PDF For Free

Finding a free online PDF editor that has the features you need can sometimes be a difficult task. For an online PDF editor to be considered decent, it has to allow you to at least add text, sign your name, etc.

With the following online PDF editors, you won’t have to download anything since they work directly with your browser. Some PDF editors might not have all the features you’re looking for, but it all depends on your current needs.

1. FormSwift

FormSwift allows you to create and edit documents online, and it comes with this feature for you to edit PDFs, too.

To start editing your PDF, first upload your document (click on the “Select File to Edit” button and choose your file). You can upload more than one file if you wish. Once you’ve uploaded everything, click on “Create PDF” and make the necessary changes.

You can add your signature, add an image, highlight text, add shapes, and erase any mistakes you’ve made.

2. PDF Escape

PDF Escape won’t let you make any changes to the PDF you upload, but it will let you add things. For example, you can add images, text, form fields, links, etc. You can modify the text in various ways such as add underline, bold, italics, color, font type, size and more.

The specs list doesn’t end there since you can also add sticky notes, draw, strike through on text, add shapes and comment. You can even erase individual pages, rotate them, crop out parts of it, change the order, and add pages made up of other PDFs.

There’s also an option to add the URL of an online PDF, add your own, or start one from scratch.

3. PDF Filler

PDF Filler is a very complete online PDF editor. You can upload your PDF by either uploading from your computer, entering a URL, adding from email, requesting the document or from third-party connections. You can also add PDFs from Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, and OneDrive.

PDF Filler is available in various languages such as English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Swedish. It also features a spell checker and options to fax, email, print, sign, add text, add the date, and add an image and shapes.

4. Sejda PDF Editor

Sejda PDF Editor is definitely worth a try since it’s one of very few PDF editors that allow you to modify text on a PDF without having to deal with a watermark. You can also upload PDFs from other sites, and add hyperlinks.

You’ll also find features such as adding a signature, blank pages, whiting out particular areas of the PDF, and inserting shapes and images. When you create a signature, Sejda shows you what your signature looks like using various fonts.

Sejda does have its limits – it only supports PDFs with 200 pages or less and won’t edit PDFs that are larger than 50MB.

5. SmallPDF Online PDF Editor

If you’re looking for a PDF editor where you don’t have to pay to remove watermarks or create a user account, SmallPDF is a great choice. It’s a very easy-to-use PDF editor and has all the essential features.

All features are free. You can add text, add white areas, and import shapes, and it also allows you to save and load PDFs from other multiple sources.

You can either add a PDF from your Google Drive or Dropbox account.  The downside to the PDF editor is that it won’t let you edit pre-existing text.

The PDF editor you choose is obviously going to depend on what changes you need to make. An editor may not be feature-rich, but if it has what you need, there might not be reasons to keep looking. How do you edit your PDFs? Leave a comment and let us know.
