    If you have left your Remote Login enabled, autologin is a bad idea.

  3. For Xubuntu 18.0.4 LTS with Lightdm:

    Edit or create the file /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/autologin.conf
    and add the following lines:

    [SeatDefaults]
    user-session=xubuntu
    autologin-guest=false
    autologin-user=
    autologin-user-timeout=0

    Then on the cli, type the following:

    $ sudo groupadd -r autologin
    $ sudo gpasswd -a autologin
