  2. This article is technically incorrect and confusing to the reader.

    DDNS has nothing to do with the dynamic (changing) DHCP-assigned server private IP address. Rather, DDNS deals with possible changes of the gateway public IP address assigned to the firewall/router by the ISP. Unless you buy a static IP from the ISP, this address may change from time to time.

    DDNS client is implemented on the firewall/router. If it’s public IP changes, the router connects to the DDNS provider and notifies it. DDNS propagates the domain primary DNS. In addition, DDNS adjusts NAT firewall port forwarding rules.
