awesome logon-introMany families or companies have public computer. These computers may have several accounts on them for different users. Possibly even different setups for personal and work. Just because you have to share the computer doesn’t mean you can’t add a little flair to it. Awesome Logon Changer is well, an awesome way to spice up this screen a little.

The logon screen is typically very plain and usually doesn’t catch anyone’s attention. It can easily become something more brilliant by simply adding an image to show off your interests or personality.

How to set up your awesomeness

There is the usual download and setup wizard to run through. There IS one part of the wizard to watch out for though. There is a “special offer” in one of the setup screens. It installs a toolbar and sets your homepage to FileBulldog. You can avoid this by selecting the Custom installation option and unchecking the three boxes.

After you avoid the installation of the unwanted toolbar, the install will complete and ask if you want to fire up the new app. When do, you will see a sample view of what the default Windows Logon screen looks like.

Off to the right you will see several pictures and tabs. These are all of the pre-installed choices. Take a minute to go through them and see if there are any choices you may like.

Add your own image

There is also an option to add your image as a background to the login screen. This is great for a shared computer at a company. You can have a branded background such as your logo or a picture of your product. If it is a shared house computer, you can put a family picture as a background.

Loading your own image is no different from uploading it to any social site. You will need to select the location folder of the image. Before you upload the image, it is a good idea to make sure the Image Resolution Settings is set to automatic. This way the image will be resized to the correct size and not need to be adjusted to fit your screen.

When you have the image selected or uploaded, you can click apply. You will see a couple of windows pop up one after the other telling you everything is all set.

Now when you log out of your user account on the computer, you will see a very Bing-like logon screen. It will have the different account options and text box in the middle like always, but not with a personalized background.

Conclusion

This simple application can add a little personalization to a normally dull screen. Like I mentioned earlier, it is a great way for places like the library or a coffee shop to display their logo. With the background being as easy to change as the wallpaper on your desktop, there is no real reason to not add a little touch of your personality to it.

What other ways could you utilize the Windows logon screen image?

What’s the name of that tool that you can use to modify the ‘Windows 7 ‘ watermark at the bottom of the login/lock screen?

This is a stripped-down rip-off of Stardock LoginStudio.
Google that for a better product.

Simple Trick to Make Firefox Run Faster

There are tons of ways to make Firefox runs faster. One of the ways is to turn off the tabs animation so the opening and closing of tabs will be immediate and doesn't take up much memory.

In Firefox, open a new tab and type "about:config" in the address bar.

Search for "browser.tabs.aimate" and double click to change the value to "false".

Close the tab. That's it.
