Using PageZipper

As you reach the bottom of a current search page this extension will quickly load the next page, however, this app isn’t automatically active once you’ve downloaded it. As soon as you restart your Firefox browser you will need to go to the View section in your top menu bar, then scroll down to Toolbars and choose Customize.

A window will appear with many icons. You will have to find the PageZipper icon and drag the selection to your Firefox toolbar.

Now all that’s left to do is travel to a search page and press Start PageZipper icon and all of your pages will begin to automatically load beneath each other once you start to reach the end of the search page.

Conclusion

I mostly like to use this extension for searches on Google; however, it also works on similar apps such as Flickr. The way this app works is it automatically identifies the “next” link on a page and then it takes the liberty of loading the actual next page for you. This means that it won’t work on most blogs, as many don’t have a next link.

One downfall I found this newly established extension to lack in is the non-compatibility of sites that do not utilize the English language. Hopefully in the future its developers can get this feature added on to improve its usability. It also does not work on sites that load their next pages using JavaScript, such as Deviantart.com.

All in all I’ve come to believe that this is a great app and it offers the ability to save you time and increase your productivity depending on the tasks you’re working on.

Currently PageZipper is compatible with Win2000/XP/Vista/7 and all recent versions of Firefox.

First you’ll download HTML Code Export. Once it’s been installed then you’ll open it up and you should arrive at screen just like the following:

Now, let’s say we’d want to fix a few errors in an html document, we’ll start by opening up a file by going to Single File on the menu at the top or by pressing Shift+Ctrl+O on your keyboard.

Next you need to press the Indent button at the top and this will automatically search for group errors and fix them.

An example error that this app fixed within my html document was the indentation of the certain attributes and the rearrangement of tags that were placed in the wrong areas.

Here you’ll clearly see the old un-edited html file on the left, and on the right you can see the new file with a few of the errors fixed:

The last step involves previewing your html file online and making sure that everything’s in place.

Conclusion

There are several other functions HTML Code Export can do besides what was shown above. You can open up multiple files and work on them all at once or you can set your own preferences so that this app can cooperate with you on whatever project you may be working on. Bottom line, HTML Code Export is a powerful app that cleans up your codes and allows you to have full control of your html files.

Step 1: First you open up Some PDF and a window similar to the following one should pop-up.

Step 2: Then you have to go to the File tab and click on the Open File option.

Step 3: Once your document(s) has been opened in Some PDF then you need to scroll (if you have more than one) to the document you want to convert and click on it.

Step 4: Make your way all the way down to the end of the window and click on the Start Convert button to instantly begin the conversion.

Step 5: Now just sit back and watch Some PDF convert your file into Word format.

Conclusion

For the most part converted files are good in terms of content (Images, Text, etc…). However, you’ll probably find that some of the font will come out in different sizes once the full conversion has taken place. With Some PDF you can play with a wide range of options, for example if you would like to keep or skip the conversion of images. The graphical user interface (GUI) actually feels a bit “old-school”, however it functions very well. Perhaps Some PDF will possibly bring drag and drop, better user interface and graphics to its future versions of this software.

Save images with Save Images?

Save Images is a Firefox add-on that allows you to save all the images on any web page at one go. This add-on not only has the potential to increase your productivity, but can also save you a whole lot of time while managing to keep your right-clicking finger intact.

There are several useful functions in Save Images, and the most notable one is that you can configure the size you’d like Save Images to store your every images. Other options include renaming images as they are being downloaded, and save the link if any image is not in place.

Step 1) Download Save Images. Once you’ve installed this add-on you can customize this extension by accessing the Tools menu.

Step 2) Now you have to choose which image selection format you’d like to customize. Save Images allows you to save every images in every tab from left to right or vice versa, or only save images in the current tab.

Step 3) Select the size limit of an image, the size you’d like all images to be saved in, and how you’d like Save Images to deal with duplicate pictures.

Step 4) Next you have to choose which folder you’d like your images saved to, and what name you want images saved as.

Step 5) As soon as steps 1-4 have been completed all you have to do is click OK at the bottom of your tab option window, and all of the images on the tab that you’re currently in will be saved to the folder you selected.

A small pop-up window will appear bottom-right of your browser letting you know how many images were instantly saved.

Step 6) Quickly and efficiently access all of the images you saved in the folder you selected on your desktop.

Conclusion

It is a repetitive and boring task to save every images in a web page, especially when there are tons of images in that page. With Save Images, you can save some efforts and time and put them in places where they can give you more productivity. What is iComment?

The real use of iComment comes in when you arrive at a site that doesn’t have a built-in commenting system and you wish to leave a comment, this app allows you to create your own commenting system on that site and post a comment virtually anywhere. Your comments can be viewed by anyone if you choose to make them public. If they are private, then only other iComment users can view them.

How Do I Use this Tool?

You have to first download iComment, then choose a username and enter your email address so that you can be notified of following pertaining comments by other users.

As soon as you’ve downloaded and installed iComment, you can begin to leave all sorts of opinions on the webpage of your choice. The iComment button is located on the top right hand corner of your browser window.

You can also access the options menu by clicking the arrow pointing down next to the icon.

Comments are instantly displayed as small icons on the right hand side of the webpage. Every comment is associated with a specific element on the sites page; therefore you have to choose the text fragment or image that you are commenting about. For example, if you select an image to leave your opinion on, when your comment is viewed the image will be highlighted so that you’re able to relate the image with the comment.

By right-clicking on the picture you want and select the “Add Picture iComment” from the menu, you will be able to enter your text comment into the editor. The comment should instantly appear on the right side of the picture.

iComment is an app that works with both Firefox and Internet Explorer and doesn’t require you to register with any site. With the use of TeamViewer you can now easily share desktops with the person who is in need of your help. You can show them how an application or software works, remove viruses/spyware, transfer or share files between your computers, or fix an issue with their PC.

To use the application, both you and the person receiving your help will need a user ID. Luckily, you can easily obtain the user ID after you’ve downloaded and installed your version of TeamViewer.

How it Works

Step One: You have to be logged into what’s called a session. In order for you to gain access to a PC, the user requiring your help will need to enter your TeamViewer ID and their password when prompted.

Your connection will be fully encrypted using an RSA private/public key, it will also utilize RC4 session encoding as well, so no need to worry on hacking and information interception on your behalf.

Step Two: Once you’ve entered your partners TeamViewer ID and their version is running on their PC then you just have to click on “Connect to Partner”.

WebNotes Is:

A web application that allows you make live sticky notes with your preferred annotated text on the side. You’re able to highlight any set of text on any webpage and then simply share your notes with anyone you’d like to via email or link sharing. I’m glad that the creators of WebNotes thought of this idea, because now anyone on the web is able to properly save and index their notes with a few taps on the mouse. You can throw out the all-outdated copy and paste format imprisoning you to use Ctrl C and V every 5 seconds or so.

How to Utilize WebNotes:

WebNotes is really marketed and aimed at people that conduct a lot of research on the Web. Its uses don’t have to be restricted to professional or student use, it can be utilized by anyone with a PC. One thing I wasn’t able to come to very good terms with was the installation of the tool bar, although easy enough as it is to install it, you don’t always want to have to install a complete tool bar on top of the Google or Yahoo tool bar already installed within my browser. Maybe WebNotes could possibly develop a much more appealing tool bar with the use of Flash that pops up when you click a small button located somewhere on your screen.

Wakoopa offers a straightforward registration; once you register on the site, you’re asked to download a small program called Wakoopa Tracker (Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista, and Mac OS X). This app sits in your taskbar (Windows) or menu bar (Mac OS X) and tracks which applications you’re using. Every once in a while, it sends that data on to the main Wakoopa servers, which then complies a list of software from every user and creates a top 25 list of the most utilized software’s.

Eventually, people can find you on Wakoopa and see how often you use various apps. It defines “use” by it actually being in the foreground and you interacting with it; it doesn’t count it as being used if it’s running in the background. This is actually a good thing, as there are many applications that run without you knowing about them. Dock and SystemUIServer are apps that are always running, albeit always in the background. Now the stats here may be really predictable (most of us will have most of our time logged in our respective web browser), but it’s intended to be fun, not necessarily useful.

Wakoopa as a social website

There is no doubt in my mind that of course, Wakoopa is a social website, which means that you can of course find your friends on there and view their app-usage stats. Wakoopa even has something called “Teams”, which essentially allows you to form groups with things in common that people can join. Wakoopa will then aggregate the usage stats for everyone in the team to find out how many hours are being used up on their common apps. (I say we find out which web browser is used the most…)

Not only does Wakoopa allow you to find info about users, but each application gets its own page as well. On an application’s page, Wakoopa will list the latest version of the app, a description, and a link to the app’s website. It will then aggregate how many hours it has been used by all members of Wakoopa, and how many Wakoopa members are using it. And, my favorite idea, it allows Wakoopa users to rate and post their own reviews of these applications, so you can really get a collective idea of whether that app you want to try out is good or not.

Wakoopa is a great application that allows you to quickly and effectively view software usage, updates, and new versions. You can connect with friends and integrate your desktop with all of its services as well. We’ll have to give the person who came up with this idea a 3 out 5 star rating, since the concept behind this application and the way that it gathers information and compiles accurate lists is astonishing, however, its uses are limited and quite frankly, as a social media website it’s in need of a few more uses for interaction rather than simply wanting to find out what your buddy uses to surf the web.

If you “simply” can’t, then you’re in for some serious trouble. There are reasons why software updates exist, and it isn’t just for showing off some new, cool features. The most important aspect of a software update (sometimes) is that it patches security loopholes that can allow malicious users or programs to take control or harm your computer. Imagine having multiple outdated, hack-prone software programs consistently running on your PC, eerie right?

Software Update Monitor or SUMo in short is a free program for Windows that monitors all installed software inside your computer, providing you with a list of available updates for them, with the aid of just few simple clicks.

Getting Started With SUMo

To get started, download SUMO and install it as any normal Windows application.

Click on SUMo’s icon on the desktop to launch it.

First, click on the “Automatically detect installed software” button to let SUMo scan your computer for already installed applications. Once it has finished, click on the next “Check for updates for your installed software” button to let SUMo connect to the Internet and check for software updates of your previously scanned software list. Click the “Close” button to access SUMo’s main interface.

SUMO will list all installed applications in a simple, multiple columns list. There are 3 icons that show your software’s current status:

1. Triangular exclamation mark – Extremely outdated software. These ones need to be updated as soon as possible.
2. Yellow star – Updates available. Not as critical as above.
3. Green tick mark – These software’s are updated. No problem here.

To get an update for any software, select it from the list and click on the “Get Update” button. You will be taken to SUMo’s web page where you can check how long your software had not been updated (based on the software’s version list). You can find updates for your software from the search function on the page. I hope the next version of SUMo will provide the actual link to a particular software’s update page for easier maintenance and knowledge, which is sadly, is unavailable for this version.

Another very important feature is that you’re able to drag and drop software executables inside SUMo’s interface to find out if there are any updates for it, even before it is installed on your PC! However, this depends on the availability of version information inside the software installer’s properties. Other features of SUMo include the ability to export software updates list to MS Excel spreadsheet / text file, HTTP proxy support and the option to run SUMo at Windows startup.

SUMo is far from perfect but it really eases the process by monitoring and scanning all available software updates for you in one shot. In my opinion, this already makes this software a must have. Try SUMo today and stay updated with the latest software!

Another thing is I don’t think an individual (as I don’t) would enter all of the transactions on the current date, since there will be those transactions you wish to enter that have occurred on an earlier date, however this program automatically sets the date to the default time (current) consequently you have to keep changing the date and the time back and forth.

Webmin System Management

Webmin is a powerful software management system used on your choice of an already powerful OS platform. Webmin allows you to configure and setup almost all of the common services and servers on UNIX and Unix-like systems from the simple GUI (Graphical User-Interface). Webmin warns and protects you from potential dangerous actions that are possibly about to occur.

As many of you Linux and Unix-like users have been manually configuring your files, I found that Webmin will recognize any and all existing configurations! This means that all of the work you’ve previously accomplished will remain unchanged once you begin to successfully manage your system with Webmin.

As Jamie Cameron (the developer of Webmin) states in his FREE book on how to fully manage and configure a Linux system using Webmin, you can only use this web-based application if you have a program/Operating System for it to configure, otherwise it’s absolutely useless.

Recently released versions of Webmin can be installed and run on Windows. However, there will be limited functionality as Webmin says not all of its servers will be available if you decide to run it on a Windows based OS. You can find the steps on how to install and properly configure Webmin on their site.

Drawbacks

The only “issue” that was a bit hard to get used to was the fact that when using Webmin you can’t immediately view the exact changes its made, thus you don’t accurately learn from the changes it makes. This can be useful for future configurations. However, once the changes are up and running you’re able to take the config files apart and examine the process it undertook, leaving you with an admiral facial expression.

Our Webmin Journey Concludes

Webmin is most definitely worth taking a much closer look at. This is one of the most useful and powerful tools for administering Linux and Unix-like systems. Moreover, unlike older releases, the newer version allows you to use multiple SSL websites using the same IP addresses for added security and support. Webmin is constantly being updated and never falls behind, its one-of-a-kind easy to use web-interface will convince you of this all on its own.
